Karen Thompson Walker: What Fear Can Teach Us

Recently I had my students watch this TED Talk from author Karen Thompson Walker. I’m trying to teach them to make clear, well-supported arguments, especially about subjects that they might not think consciously about very often. Fear is one of those things that we all know intimately and experience frequently, and yet our thoughts about fear are very often guided by impulses and thought patterns that aren’t exactly helpful in dealing with fear itself. Hopefully, this speech not only showed my students what a creatively wrought and convincing argument should sound like, but also made them think with a little more purpose about how they deal with fear. I thought it worth sharing here to see what you had to think. Leave your thoughts in the comments section or shoot us a message on Twitter @onelessrib.
